International student needs a home. Can you help?

I have recently returned from Vietnam where I interviewed a number of very bright students for our scholarship program.  Our program is unique and attracts a lot of attention, mostly notably from students from humble backgrounds who have won scholarships to attend Vietnamese Schools for the Gifted.

There is one outstanding female student applicant, Mai, for whom we have no place in the girls' boarding house, as it is full. Mai is hoping to enter Year 12 in 2010.

She has a family friend who can accommodate her in central Melbourne for weekends and holidays. We are seeking a School family to accommodate Mai from Sunday - Thursday nights during term time in 2010. An alternative might be for two families to share the responsibility for one semester each.

Mai is gifted, has excellent English skills and an outgoing personality.

As the School is supporting Mai's fees, and assisting with books and uniform, there is no provision for payment for her accommodation and meals. The School will acknowledge the support of the family/ies who assist Mai.

I urge you to consider this opportunity and help support this very worthwhile student. Please contact Gary Van Den Elsen on 9788 7708 or email GVanDenElsen@pi.vic.edu.au
