Prefect Selection Process 2010

Aims:

  • To allow all interested students the opportunity to participate in
    leadership training
  • To provide support and training for students who may not become Prefects but who aspire to a leadership role within the Senior School.
  • To ensure that the election process is rigorous and provides opportunities for all Year 11 students to make informed and educated decisions when voting.
  • To provide ongoing support and training for all Prefects and students who undertake leadership in the Senior School.

The Process:

  • Sunday August 30. All students interested in leadership and the role of Prefect are required to attend a leadership training day. The facilitator for the day will be Chris Beckman from The IQ Business Group. The following topics will be explored through the course of the day:

Establishing your leadership credentials
Becoming a role model
Supporting and inspiring those you lead
Leadership qualities
Motivation profiles

  • The day will run from 9 am -  3 pm in the Pavilion
  • Students who wish to participate must complete and return the attached
    nomination form.
  • At the conclusion of the day individual participants nominate 10 students who demonstrate strong skills of leadership and co-operation.
  • A short list of 30 students will be developed and they will be invited to proceed to the next stage of selection.
  • The final 30 students will submit a written application and attend an interview. Their application will be posted in the T block for all interested students to read. Copies will also be submitted to the Principal.
  • A year level election will be conducted on 7 October and 15 Prefects will be elected.
  • The appointed prefects will participate in 'Leading Teams' workshops and 'Action Days' scheduled for the week beginning 30 November.

Leadership Day applications to HOSS.

Sunday 30 August 2009

Year 11 Leadership Day to be held in the Pavilion. Individual participants nominate 30 students who demonstrate strong skills of leadership and co-operation.

Tuesday 1 September 2009

Top 30 candidates notified that they have progressed to the interview stage. All nominees prepare a written submission.

Monday 7 September 2009

Written applications submitted to HP.
Interview process begins.

Tuesday 6 October 2009

Election conducted.

Friday 9 October 2009

HOS and HOY meet with RTH to analyse votes.

Tuesday 13 October 2009

Year 11 assemble in Lecture Theatre at 10.50am for announcement of 2009 Heads of School and Prefects.
