Year 8 Student-Led Conferences
The inaugural Year 8 Student-Led
Conference is an opportunity for students to reflect
on their current learning and identify strategies
for improvement whilst sharing their ideas with
parents and teachers. To promote greater
responsibility, the conference format is developed,
practised and facilitated by students.
They are responsible for the agenda and
should demonstrate self-reflection of their learning
and overall development, using their portfolio as a
central theme and for reference.
Interviews run for a maximum of 15
minutes, with students directing the format, which
will include the opportunity for parents to ask
questions and contribute opinions. Following the
formal conference, students will take their parents
to a display of their work that is linked to their
reflections of key aspects of their learning. There
will be additional time to discuss the conference
before students return to their classroom.
Monday 31
August (12 noon - 4.30pm) - 8A, 8B, 8C
Tuesday 1
September (12 noon - 4.30pm) - 8D, 8E, 8F
Individual conference times are
attached. Please nominate three sessions when you
will be available. Students manage the booking
process, liaising with the Heads of Year to confirm
their final booking time. They then create a formal
invitation to parents with the details. Should
parents be unavailable on either the Monday or
Tuesday, some conferences can be scheduled for
Wednesday morning.
All bookings will be allocated on a 'first come,
first served' basis.
