Tuesday 13 October will see the conclusion to the
Year 7 interdisciplinary project the Night of
Notables. For over a term students have been
working towards this evening. On display will be a
range of learning activities including a research
essay, a poster, an essay abstract, a timeline and a
range of open-ended questions.
Each student will assume
their notable character for the duration of the
evening and will interact with visitors to their
display to demonstrate their understanding of the
life and achievements of this character. The
criteria were amended this year to include only
deceased notables from a range of fields including
science, philosophy, art, sport, writing and acting.
The evening will commence with a performance for
parents in the Pavilion. A selected number of
students from each Year 7 class will perform in a
play which gives a snapshot of some of the many and
varied characters on display during the evening.
Nibbles will be provided
and drinks will be available at bar prices.
Parents will then be invited to move to the Perry
Building where they will be able to meet and
interact with the 150 notable characters on display.
Parents and visitors are encouraged to select
questions from the question boxes and take a moment
to engage the character in
some dialogue.
Throughout the evening
students will be assessed by their tutors in a
number of areas including costume, display,
knowledge content and interaction with the audience.
By now all parents should
have received an invitation from their son or
daughter detailing the procedure for the evening.
